Captain William Adam Laney Company E, 48th Infantry Regiment, NC Volunteers

Captain William Adam Laney is the son of Calvin Laney and Nancy Funderburk. William was born on 6-Jan-1834 in Union County NC. He stood 5 feet 9 1/2 inches and was a farmer before the war. William married Melissa M Belk on 6-April-1857.

Laney Volunteered for service on 17- Mar-1862. He was Commissioned as 1st Lieut of Company E, 48th Infantry Regiment, NC Volunteers on 19-Apr-1862.. Laney was promoted to Full Captain on 23-Oct-1862.

Capt William Adam Laney Died of wounds received at the Battle of the Wilderness on 21-July-1864. He is buried at Laney Family Cemetery in Union County North Carolina.

He is my 2nd cousin 6x removed.
