marker of my 2nd cousin 5x removed. Private John Franklin Dellinger. He
was born during the year of 1841 in Lincoln County NC. His parents are
Noah Dellinger and Margaret Gilbert Summerow.
Private John F. Dellinger enlisted in Company I, 11th NC Infantry Regiment on 9 March 1862 in Lincolnton NC. At the age of 19, he was killed in action on 16 Dec 1862 at the Battle of White Hall, NC. His father Noah was given $38.86 as a settlement for his sons death.
Private John F. Dellinger is buried at Whitehall (Seven Springs) in Wayne County North Carolina. John was not married and had no children.
