My 3rd cousin 4x removed,Joseph Jason Stroup. 17 year old .J.J. Stroup volunteered for the Confederate States Army at Camp Holmes, near Raleigh NC on 25 May 1864. He was given the rank of private and attached to Company C, 2nd Regiment North Carolina Junior Reserves.
