Dallas W. Hartis Company B 2nd North Carolina Junior Reserves



My 4th great granduncle Dallas W. Hartis, age 17. Born in Mecklenburg county North Carolina, stood 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall with a fair complexion dark hair and hazel eyes. Enlisted 21 may 1864 as a private in Company B 2nd North Carolina Junior Reserves (Anderson's battalion) Confederate States of America. He was paroled at Charlotte NC on 3 May 1865.The 2nd North Carolina Junior Reserves served in the Department of North Carolina and Southern Virginia and was active in the New Bern area. Later the unit was assigned to L.S. Baker in the Army of Tennessee and saw action in the Battle of Bentonville .
