Corporal Francis M Moore

Corporal Francis M Moore is the son of George W Moore and Susannah H Rhodearmel, he was born in the mountains of western North Carolina during the year of 1840.

Francis was enlisted by Colonel Love into Company L of the 16th North Carolina Infantry Regiment as a Corporal on 4 May 1861 in Waynesville NC. He was later demoted to the rank of private for an unknown reason.

Corporal Francis M Moore was killed in action at the battle of Seven Pines, Virginia on 31, May 1862. A settlement of claims of deceased officers and soldiers of NC was claimed by his mother Susannah on 8 December 1862.

He is my 3rd great grand uncle.
