Mrs. Belzorah Haynes Stamey

Mrs. Belzorah Haynes Stamey was born near Beattie's Ford in Lincoln County NC during the year of 1832. She is the daughter of James Haynes and Temperance Goodwin. She married Rev. Alex Stamey and is the mother of five Ministers, she had eleven Children in all.

Mrs. Stonewall Jackson was and Belzorah were intimate childhood friends, they attended school and lived together for many months. They would often visited each other as they grew into adulthood and started their families.

Her obituary states that during Lincoln's war "she was a good Samaritan on many occasions, yet a giant of defense when it took courage to defend her home and her beloved Southland. We repeat that she gave much to the cause of her country and her God."

She is my 1st cousin 6x removed. Mrs. Belzorah Haynes Stamey's final resting place is at Snow Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Grayson County Virginia, CSA.
