My 5th great granduncle Thomas Mayberry Plemmons was the son of Thomas Plemmons and Mary Anna Parton. He was married to Anny and had 3 children. Thomas enlisted at the age of 30 on 4 July 1861 at Marshall, in Madison County NC for 1 year. He was attached to Captain L.M. Allen's Co. the Madison Guards (2nd Battalion NC infantry). He was taken prisoner of war by Yankee Gen. A.E.Burnside's forces on Roanoke Island 8 Feb 1862. Thomas was paroled at Elizabeth city NC on 21 Feb 1862. Thomas Mayberry Plemmons died on 23 Jan 1863 at the Seamen's Home Hospital in Wilmington, NC . His cause of death is unknown at this time.
