John Seaborn Plemmons Company D, Georgia 11th Infantry Regiment

John Seaborn Plemmons was born on 10 Apr 1834 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, his parents are William B and Elizabeth Plemmons. Seaborn's family moved to Georgia prior to the war. He is listed as being a farmer and a resident of Gilmer County, Georgia at the time of his enlistment in the Confederate Army.

Seaborn enlisted on 7 Mar 1861 as a private. He was attached to Company D, Georgia 11th Infantry Regiment on 03 Jul 1861 in Atlanta. Muster rolls show that he was wounded in the hip during the battle of Malvern Hill and was admitted to Chimborazo hospital in Richmond Va. on 13 Aug 1862 for debility. He returned to duty on 2 Sept 1862.

Seaborn was promoted to Full Corporal on 01 Aug 1862 and later promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 07 Feb 1863. He was paroled at Appomattox Court House, VA. on 09 Apr 1865.

1st Lt. John Seaborn Plemmons died on 9 Apr 1901 and is buried in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery which is located in Gilmer county, Georgia, occupied Confederate States of America. He is my 2nd cousin 7x removed.
