Private James E. Plemmons Company F of the 60th North Carolina Infantry Regiment

Grave site of of my 3rd great grand uncle James E. Plemmons. He was born on 28, June, 1839 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. His parents are lewis Plemmons and Elizabeth Ensley. James married Mary Caroline Alexander on 27, March,1861when he was 21 years of age.

James E. Plemmons enlisted as a private in Buncombe County NC on May 16,1862 for the duration of the war. He was assigned to Company F of the 60th North Carolina Infantry Regiment. Muster records show that he was present for duty during the months of August 1862 though February 1863. He was hospitalized at Saint Mary's hospital in Dalton, Georgia on April 26, 1863 with pemphigus. he was transferred to Oliver hospital on June 20, 1863. he was furloughed on an unspecified date. James returned to duty prior to September 20, 1863, when he was wounded in the hand at Chickamauga, Georgia. He returned to duty sometimes during the month of January-February 1864 and was reported present through August 31, 1864. James was hospitalized at Charlotte on January, 15,1865 with bronchitis, he was transferred to another hospital on January 24, 1865.

Private James E. Plemmons passed away on 6, Nov, 1881 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. he is buried at Bradburn cemetery in  Leicester North Carolina.
