John Thomas Snelson, Patriot



This mornings American Revolutionary war veteran is my 7th great grandfather on my paternal side.(Snelson, Plemmons). John Thomas Snelson was born in Buckingham County Virginia on the 4th of July 1759.

John Thomas Snelson enlisted on 15 July 1777, for a period of three Years. He began his Patriotic Service to the United States under Capt. Joseph Duncan, Lieut. Robert Middleton, and Ensign Thomas Rany,. They were commanded by Col. John Stuart & Lieut. Col. Elijah Clark. Thomas Snelson served a total of 1 year 4 months 25 days.

The Florida Expedition
The Battle of Savannah, under General Marion & Colonel Horry
The first Siege of Augusta, under General Clarke
The last siege of Augusta, under Col. William Washington
